Course Description
 More Details

This professional development session equips educators with essential strategies for teaching Molecular and Cell Biology, Classification and Evolution, and Organisms and Ecosystems—three pillars of life science that inspire curiosity and deepen understanding.

  • Molecular and Cell Biology: Dive into the microscopic world of life by exploring the intricate processes of photosynthesis and cellular respiration, and unraveling the laws of Mendelian genetics. Teachers will gain tools to help students visualize how cells function, communicate, and replicate—laying the groundwork for understanding heredity and biological energy systems.

  • Classification and Evolution: Discover how the diversity of life is organized and explained through taxonomy and evolutionary theory. Participants will examine the criteria used to classify organisms and explore the mechanisms of natural selection, adaptation, and speciation. This segment empowers educators to guide students in connecting the dots between structure, function, and evolutionary history.

  • Organisms and Ecosystems: Explore the dynamic relationships between organisms and their environments, from predator-prey interactions to nutrient cycles and energy flow. Teachers will learn how to present ecosystems as living networks, helping students appreciate the balance and interdependence that sustain life on Earth.

Through collaborative discussions and hands-on activities, this session will provide educators with practical strategies to make these complex topics accessible and engaging—ensuring students develop a lasting appreciation for the interconnectedness of all living things.

Please note: Participants must attend all three 1-hour sessions to receive in-service points for this training.
