This course is designed to support new science teachers in building a strong foundation for effective instruction and classroom safety. Participants will engage in content-area training that emphasizes best practices for science education, including:
- Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs): Learn how to integrate SEPs into lessons to promote inquiry and critical thinking.
- 5E Instructional Model: Explore the Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate framework for designing dynamic, student-centered lessons.
- Storylining: Discover how to create coherent, phenomenon-based storylines that connect standards and foster deeper understanding.
- Safety in the Science Classroom: Review essential safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure learning environment.
- SharePoint for Collaboration: Gain practical skills for using SharePoint to organize resources, share materials, and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
By the end of this course, teachers will have the tools and strategies needed to deliver engaging, standards-aligned science instruction while maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
