Explore resources in this PAID virtual session that will enable students in grades 2 and 4 to learn civics literacy through the lens of their state and local community. Investigate ways to infuse content that aligns with the state of Florida mandates of required instruction (ex. Constitution, Hispanic Contributions, Veterans, African American History, Florida History, Women's Contributions, and Medal of Honor Recipients) and new civics and government standards implemented fall 2023.

Discover strategies to promote 21st century skills, including critical thinking and classroom discussion, through analysis of unique primary and secondary sources including custom maps and authentic connections to social studies through analysis of sources that have local and state connections.

Provided materials will supplement adopted curriculum to fully address the new civics standards with local information and resources.
